Industrial Disease (13/02/09)- A Fat Man Running behind and Electro BandWagon

A few bands have recently stated in interviews that they want to make pop music how it used to be in the 80's, when it was played by bands and musicians and had a real epic quality" Er guys, perhaps you want to read our bio from about 3 years ago as your new 'mantra' is lifted word for word from it.
As is typical, major label bands trail behind the underground innovators like fat men at marathons. Big huge lumbering idiots crossing the line and falling at the feet of us and the Soho Dolls, The Modern and so many other who were they waaaay before and are much better at it. The annoying thing is in this industry, those stragglers and wannabes get huge rewards for coming last, while we innovators get frustrated. The number of tracks I hear that sound soooo much like one of our old songs is amazing. Coincidence? In this industry? My arse! At least Kylie had the desency to ask The magnificent Rosie and The Goldbug to use a track.
What is worse is when they take what is basically and RnB artist, dress them up in Electro clothes and claim they are a new original big thing and trick the kids into going Ga Ga (get the reference;-)) about them. Now I have a lot of respect for the talent of these musicians but what makes The aforementioned lady uber talented and original while the prototype from which her image was stamped, Pink, is seen as just RnB? Electro is the new bandwagon in music and to be honest that is why we innovators are mostly jumping off. Finding something new to do with it all.
We have since moved on from what has just become the newest scene (puff puff “can I have some air please doctor”), but our early 2007 write up in Glasswerks as "We discovered Scarlet Blonde kick starting a female fronted electro rock revolution" will be framed and on our studio wall for a long time to come.
Dawn xx
